DUBUQUE, Iowa - With top-20 finishes, James Johnson, and Cole Leggett were named A-R-C All-Conference performers, leading the Storm to a fourth place finish at the A-R-C Championships.
Hosted in Dubuque, Johnson and Leggett put on a performance, clocking personal records and leading the charge for the Storm. The race marked the first time in their collegiate careers both Johnson and Leggett broke the 25-minute mark. The All-Conference award is the first for Johnson in his sophomore season, and the second for the senior Leggett.
Drew Engler nearly joined Johnson and Leggett in the sub 25-minute time, finishing at 25:03.08, good enough for a personal record and 26th overall in the field. Ezra De Cleene and Doug Berg placed fourth and fifth on the team while Ben Reyes and David Lochner rounded out the top seven, with each finishing under 26-minutes for personal records.
On the day, all seven of the Storm's top finishers set a new personal best, while 22 of the 25 runners for Simpson earned personal bests. As a squad, Simpson placed fourth overall in the team standings with 112 points. Wartburg, Loras and Central claimed the top three with Nebraska Wesleyan, Dubuque, Luther, Buena Vista and Coe closed out the race.
